On Sunday, September 10th, the 10 AM Mass will NOT be held in the church, instead it will be held at Herman Park Pavilion. In the event of rain, it will be held in the church.

Our schools have opened their doors to a new year of learning in the midst of some very warm weather. (I remember sitting in the classroom at St. Joseph Catholic school with just a single fan blowing the hot, humid air.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

As the new school approaches and families take their last vacations, just a few notes on parish “stuff.” St. Malachy is in the process to replace their old HVAC units with updated, efficient models.

Thursday & Friday daily Masses have been cancelled (8/10 & 8/11)

On a few occasions during the Church year the “ordinary” Sunday readings are interrupted for significant “holy day.” We have such an occurrence this weekend as the “Eighteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time” is displaced with the holy day, “Transfiguration of the Lord.”
