Parishes in the Diocese of Sioux City are encouraging the faithful to receive the sacrament of reconciliation by promoting The Light is ON for You Feb. 28. Our parish will be offering the sacrament before and after the 5:30pm Mass at St. Malachy in Madrid. Diocese throughout the country are participating in The Light is ON for You this Lent.

Father Andrew Galles, director of the diocesan Office of Worship explained the goals of this event are to strongly encourage the faithful to take advantage of the sacrament and to increase the availability of confessions in the diocese.

“The Light is ON for You has been a successful campaign (in recent) years. Parishes report that it is often well-attended,” Father Galles said, noting the evening schedule is convenient for some parishioners.

He explained if some have stopped going to confession, they should feel welcome as priests are happy to see parishioners participate in the sacrament.
